A CHANGE IS 'GONNA COME
1 October, 2007
A lot has been going on around BK campus. Many horses have been sold and a select few, collected. We said goodbye to Seraphim, Calligraphy, Anastasia, Quiescence, and Lucky Charm, among others. We're trying to head away from a Thoroughbred dominant tendancy. Germania, Ellesmera, and Walking Winner all came home from a leasing experience at Wind Storm Arabians.
Joining BK is a special little mare named Roses are Red. She is heading to World's this year with Madhatter to represent BK's conformationally correct tradition. We discovered her at the Humane Society and fell in love with her strawberry coloring and endearing personality. Also, Siuil a Run returns to BK this month with a host of points and titles under his belt. He will be the foundation sire for a surprise new breed this autumn.

DRESSAGE AND DRAFTS
7 June, 2007
Crash Course SSQ CCh.++ is back at BK for the second time. His owner, Amanda Hollingshead, was so pleased with his last stay with us that she's leasing Crash to us for the entire summer of 2007. We're honored by her decision as we prep Crash for the Olympics with our team.
We now house four Irish Draughts, including Crash Course. All four are excellent eventers with upper level dressage potential.
Sometimes, hitting the ground from 72" inches in the air gets a little old. With that in mind, Rebecca imported Calypso from Italy. Calypso is a 2000 Haflinger mare who, on her first time out with us, won her eventing suitability division. Calypso may become strictly a dressage horse, depending on how she matures with us.

MONA LISAS AND MAD HATTERS
27 May, 2007
A few oddballs have joined the BK family this month. From an American Saddlebred and a Morgan to an Irish Draught and a Boeperd Sport Horse, we're expanding our horizons. We're looking to encourage cross breeding in Volte as well as deviation from the ever-popular Thoroughbred. As such, we have a couple Olympic-caliber horses for sale at this time.
We're expecting an exciting new addition! Madhatter (420 points) is a bay overo Boeperd Sport Horse by Madiba NCh.+ out of Gamblin Kinda Gal GCh. Our first colorful horse, this gelding will hopefully inspire others towards rare breeds and even gelding non-breeding stock.
Last Rose won the Kentucky Oaks and came in a close second place in the Black Eyed Susan. We couldn't be more thrilled with out little filly from Egypt.

$100,000
25 April, 2007
BK's earnings breached one-hundred grand this month. Watercolor earned his keep when he brought home $70,000 from VDA Limelight 2007. Now schooling Intermediare - showing fourth - we anxiously anticipate our stallion's grand prix days. Furthermore, Wildfire qualified for the Kentucky Derby this month, finishing third out of nine in the Florida Derby. The grade one colt is heavily favored for the Derby with four graded wins in this year alone - including the UAE Derby - and remains the top three year old colt in the world.
The Mobster was sold to newcomer Silence and will continue his solid dressage career. We couldn't be happier with the match. Walking Winner, our newest purchase from Black Storm, is fairing well in the beginner-novice division. We also now have two preliminary competitors - both from Miss Cleopatra Haataja.
Our newest arrival, Petit Ousseau (Orion NCh. x Mako NCh.) blew everyone away at her first outing. She came home baby green champion at the Spring Hunter Gala.

PROGRESS AND HISTORY
6 April, 2007
Many show horses at BK moved up levels this week. Two progressed from introductory to training level dressage and another from training to first. Walking Winner was added to our beginner-novice string. Parable and Sail Away are now in the pre-greens with Calligraphy one win away from Regular Working.
In racing news, our lone colt - Wildfire, of course - won the United Arabian Emirates Derby at the Dubai World Cup. He's eligible for grade one races now with the final Derby qualifiers approaching. He's by far the leading three year old colt in Volte and we expect he and Ellen to finish the 2007 season strong.
We are thrilled to welcome Watercolor home. He returns to us from Hampton with more than 3000 points and two merits. He's our top dressage contender with young Miss Abbott aboard.
We have one filly on the way by Orion out of Mako, expected to be born with no less than 800 points. Mako is a preliminary eventer and Orion a top competitor in his own right. Thistledown was also bred to True Blue (RID) for his first part-bred foal. The filly is due in mid-April.

NEW HORSES AND LOOK
1 April, 2007
BK's new website was launched today! The refreshing look was just that here at the farm.
Please welcome our newest additions. From Black Storm comes Walking Winner, an ex-chaser whom we have eventing hopes for. Also, Nuvola from Rafter T, a masterful, level three jumper for Joceline Abbott.
We've just returned from the Arete Classic I with $3000 and multiple wins, especially from Lunar Veneur, Nuvola - both jumpers - and Calligraphy - a first year hunter. Thistledown, as expected, took home great placings in the Regular Working division. Cinnamon also made her level three debut and swept away the seasoned competition.
